U13s Division 1B Vs North Berwick Colts Sunday 5th October
'With the sun shining and a cool, breeze, conditions were ideal for football and the trip down the coast to meet North Berwick Colts in the shadow of the Law. Although early days, North Berwick had been finding points hard to come by in the league but they have found form and are on a decent run in the Scottish Cup. And with this being the second time the teams had played in the league, hopes were high that the Colts could generate the momentum to make their own league push.
The grass was long and it took a while before the boys could measure their passes but when they did the chances started to follow. First to show was Lee who took the ball in on the right after being played in by Daniel and his cross field ball to the left was just ahead of Tony to make anything of. Tony featured again following a great kick out from Rian, when he was smartly onto the ball and taking his shot early just lofted his shot over the top. Then Dean broke from the back, Daniel picked it up and fed Lee but the keeper saved comfortably as the ball held up in the grass. The opening goal was not delayed much longer and it was Bradley who scored following great work by Grant in the middle of the park and the North Berwick defence had failed to clear. Seconds later Tony must have thought he had scored after Daniel played a great ball over to him but the defender recovered to deny him. Half time 1-0.
Despite the lion's share of the play there was only one goal to show for their efforts but within moments of the restart, Lee, then Fraser scored to put the Colts into a more comfortable position. Then Mark was on hand to score the fourth and his first goal for the Colts when the keeper palmed Lee's cross into his path. Lee played Nick in and he fed Fraser who drilled in the fifth goal. Fraser scored his hat trick when he took a ball into feet in midfield, strode forward then blasted an unstoppable shot past the keeper. Nick provided again when he crossed for Gavin to finish and the Colts were 7 up. Rian was down smartly to keep North Berwick out when their big forward headed down from a free kick. However moments later, they did pull one back but the Colts responded when Daniel's mazy run through the middle ended with his shot fizzing past the post. Lee made no mistake moments later for his second, and Bradley put the icing on the cake with his second, when he lofted a superb shot from the right for the Colts' ninth of the morning. Full time 9-1.
