Well despite the snow blizzards getting to the Academy , it was amazing to discover clear skies and a clear pitch on our arrival , so game on !

This was the 3rd time this season in three different cups that we had been drawn against the Colts !

The game soon developed into a scrappy match with constant long balls and very few passes although the Colts were controlling the midfield far too easily.

Jason found himself in space and played a great pass to Kevin who sped through but his shot was well saved by the keeper , with the half nearing its end another Vale corner was fired in and in the scramble Lewis R, reacted quickly to head home 1-0

Almost straight from the re-start the Colts won possession and their player ran clean through without a challenge being made to finish low into the corner 1-1.

The Colts were now on top and from a corner the ball was prodded goal bound and found its way through the crowd into the net 1-2, a few half chances came and went without either keeper having to make a save.

Half time 1-2

Second half began with no real change to the pattern of play but slowly the Vale seemed to be gaining more possession and a scramble in the Colts box resulted in Lewis S bundling the ball home 2-2.

Then at long last the Vale started to control the game and with the best passing move of the game the ball was switched from left to right a good run a cross and Sean slotted home 3-2 .

Vale were now pressing well and  Chris H was unlucky with a back heeler and a few shots went wide without troubling their keeper.

Shortly after a cross from the left was bundled home by Sean 4-2, the Colts were still a threat and their player was fouled in the box , penalty

Mark saved well which effectively finished the match

Final score 4-2

Full credit to the Colts who never stopped trying but eventually the Vale got the result despite their poor first half display
