On a
surprisingly mild afternoon on a pitch which was heavy in places, but perfectly
playable the match eventually got started about 2pm
The
home team had a large support but although outnumbered the away fans did their
best to cheer our lads on
The
match started at a frantic pace with no quarter given by either team and few
clear cut chances being produced with both defences well on top
, hutchie were dominating possession but just could not break through.
With
the half almost at an end Ally make a good run and slotted a pass to Jamie who
cut into the box and smashed a shot which the keeper could only deflect high
into the net 0-1
HT
0-1
Second
half began with GT now coming into the game and were going for the equalizer,
but the Hutchie defence with Chris and Kevin in the centre and Ally and Connor
at fullback were in no mood to let GT get anywhere near having a shot at goal , so much so Gregor was a virtual spectator and when
required was off his line well to collect and clear any danger.
The
foul count was rising and the Ref appeared to be allowing a bit too much but
soon regained control with a few well aimed speeches at the lads concerned
which helped the game continue at a fast pace.
A
rare GT shot took a wicked deflection and looked net bound but went just past
the post ( a spot of good fortune for once )
Hutchie
weathered the storm and started to create more with Rob and Jamie always
causing them trouble.
A
weak shot from Rob straight at the keeper seemed harmless but the unfortunate
keeper let it go under him and it rolled over the line 0-2
GT
were now pushing forward all the time now and at last after numerous chances a
break led to Jamie finishing well into the corner 0-3 ,
if not for some last ditch defending and fine saves from the GT team and keeper
to keep Rob and a great double save to deny Dylan the score could have been
more but the game was always close and a great match to watch.
With
some impressive and excellent performances both individually and more
importantly as a TEAM , Hutchie fully deserved the
victory
A
mention to our Hosts for their hospitality and kinds words after the match much
appreciated and good luck for the future
