Vale Colts Vs Caledonian
4th round Scottish Cup
The game started with Caledonian very much on top, they
pressed Hutchie back for the first twenty minutes but in fairness Hutchie
defended really well and kept the visitors chances to minimum,Hutchie did
struggle to clear our lines sometimes but Caley couldn't carve out a clear
chance with Steele only having to make one stop with his feet during this
period. As the half wore on Hutchie stated to find their feet in this game and
were starting to win the midfield battle and getting more and more
possession, they forced a series of corners and the Caley goal was lucky to stay
intact mainly due to fantastic heriocs from their goalie who made save after
save to deny Hutchie. When the half time whistle blew Caley must have been
relieved because they received a battering in the last fifteen minutes of the
half.
Half-Time 0-0
Caley scored within 5 minutes of the restart to
take the lead, the forward was allowed to turn easily in the box and put the
ball into Steele's bottom left corner. This could have put Hutchie's heads
down but it didn't, and 10 minutes later we were back on level terms,a corner
wasn't cleared by Caley and the ball fell to centre half Bruce Gorrie 12 yards
out and he fired it low through a crowded penalty box into the bottom corner to
make it 1-1.Hutchie then moved up a gear and within minutes it was 2-1,Mrac
Berry picked up the ball and went on a great run down wing and skinned the full
back to cross to the unmarked Caillean Gall who hit the ball high over the
keeper and into the net. From then on Hutchie were in full control of the game
and duly scored the third with 5 minutes to go,Bradley Rixon picked up the ball
at the halfway line and went on a lungbursting run and just as he looked like
he had ran too far he slotted it home from the tightest of angles to make it
3-1 to send the Colts into the last 16 of the Scottish.
Full-Time
3-1
A great performance and attitude from the whole
squad including those unfortunate not to get on the park.
