2nd September SYFA Cup hutchie 14s v Civil Service Strollers 10 - 2 victory.

After indifferent League performances Hutchie opened up the defence of their Scottish Cup with an away tie at
Marine Drive, home of Civil Service Strollers.
Hutchie dominated the opening exchanges,
Scott Gray and Todd Smith missed a few early opportunities with Gray being denied a stonewall penalty after being brought down in the box.

First goal came from an unusual source though, as
Ross Brady scored direct from a corner kick.
Todd Smith playing in a new roe as striker, hit the net to double Hutchies lead.

The pick of the days goals was the third,
Jamie rolled the ball to Callum Gilzean who carried the ball forward playing the ball to the feet of Gray who flicked the ball into the path of Callum Donnelly, his cross was then headed into the net from Todd Smith.
Just before half time
Donnelly scored, latching on to a through ball from Dean Carse.
HT 4-0

Jordan Glennie and Ross Tipton were introduced for the second half, as Hutchie looked to build on their first half performance. It was the home team however who were first to score.
Hutchie restored the 4 goal advantage when a shot from Glennie thundered off the crossbar and was prodded home by Smith.

Any thoughts that Hutchie were on easy street were dashed when Civil scored a second goal.

Hutchie hoiwever took a grip of the game from there on in.
Jack Hood was playing as Right Back today, getting up and down the right flank with great effect linking well with Glennie.

Ross Tipton ran in on goal unchallenged to make it 6, while Carse opened his account latching on to a great ball from Niall Doherty to make it 7-2.

Smith, Carse and Glennie hit three more unanswered goals to see Hutchie running out comfortable 10 - 2 winners.

Hard to say if the team have turned the corner as they were never greatly stretched but the coaches will have been pleased with Smith's goal scoring exploits and the ability of Hood to lend a help to the attack.
