Introducing: Danny Galbraith the story so far

Born: Galashiels, Scotland, 19 August 1990
Position: Winger
Strengths: I play on the wing so I’m quick and I like to take players on. I’m quite strong as well and I try to work hard for the team.
Ways I can improve: No player is perfect. I’m no different, so I always look to develop. You can always improve on all aspects of your game. If I had to pick one, it’d be my right foot. In training I try to use it more or I’ll stay behind after training to work on it.
A player at the club I admire: I look to Ronaldo and Giggs because they play in my position. Giggs plays with his head a bit more now. When he was younger he was unbelievably quick and was always taking players on, now he’s more intelligent with his game. His movement and positioning is excellent, he makes it look so easy. Ronaldo is like Giggs was when he was young, always looking to go past people, never afraid to take players on. I like that and even through they're both different players, I try to learn from them.
Life at United: I signed from Hearts at the start of the season and it’s been unbelievable. It’s everything I expected of such a big club. As soon as I knew United were interested in me I was never interested in another club. I didn't give it any thought. I’ve been a lifelong a supporter. My dad is, so I’ve grown up with United. The facilities are like no other club’s. But, even the people… everybody makes you feel welcome. The manager knows everyone’s name and you’re treated so well. The history of the club is about giving young players a chance. You don’t get that at some other top clubs.
I first got spotted: It was playing for my local team hutchison vale in Scotland. I joined Hearts until I was old enough to come down to Manchester. When United were interested I would have risked everything to come here.
In five years I will be: My main goal is to be in United’s first team. That’s my main focus every day, anything that happens after that would be a bonus.
Ultimate aim in football: Playing for the club you’ve supported all your life – it wouldn’t get any better than that. If I could play for Scotland that would be good.
Describe yourself in three words: Dedicated. Determined. Ambitious.
Best moment in football so far: Signing for United and scoring my first goal in the red shirt. Also just knowing that United wanted to sign me, that was a great feeling. For Scotland, I’ve played in the Under-15, -16s and -17s. That’s good, but nothing compared to playing for United.
Most embarrassing moment: Luckily I’ve not had any here. If you ask me in a few months I might have a different answer, hopefully not.
Favourite other sports: Pro Evo on the Playstation, if you can count that as a sport. Most people do. I don’t think Danny Rose would agree with me on this, but I reckon I’m the best at Pro Evo. There’s also a snooker table at my digs, so I like to play the odd frame now and then.
Films: I’ve not got a favourite film. I like a variety of films.
Music: Mainly R’n’B, or hip-hop.
TV: It used to be Soccer AM, but since I moved to United I’ve had a game on Saturday so I don’t get to watch it. Match of the Day, I always watch that.
Best trainer: Ben Amos or Conor McCormack. They give it their all every day.
Worst trainer: There’s a few. But, when things don’t go his way, Jimmy Derbyshire starts swearing at himself, which is actually quite funny to see. He’s not a bad trainer, he works really hard, it’s more because he’s always trying to do so well that if it doesn’t go his way he loses it.
Team joker: Craig Cathcart is quite sly. You wouldn’t expect it of him because he seems quiet, but that’s all part of his act. Never believe him!
Best dressed: I’d like to say myself.
Worst dressed: I can’t let him get away with it, Anton and his pink trainers! And when he’s got his pink socks on as well… I’m waiting for him to turn up in a pink jacket and pink hat to complete the outfit.
Nickname: Nothing bad, maybe when that embarrassing moment happens people will be calling me something different. For now, it’s just ‘Danny’.
Danny has now moved to Hibernian FC
Enclosed is a photo taken after Hutchison Vale won the 5-a-sides at Meadowbank in 1948-1949. The clock in my arms was what we were given for winning the 5's. It was a real local effort, the Brysons lived in Hutchison Avenue, as did Tommy Younger, Billie MacFarlane lived in Hutchison Road, and I lived in Hutchison View. Regards and continued success, Hugh W. Small.
